Jessica Featherstone's journey into motherhood began with the birth of her daughter, Sky, in 2014. After moving to Milwaukee in 2013 when her husband Daniel received a job offer, she discovered she was pregnant before Thanksgiving of that year. Her pregnancy went smoothly, but after Sky's birth, Jessica struggled with postpartum anxiety and depression. These challenges led her to seek support and community through organizations like Hike It Baby and Milwaukee Babywearing. As she found solace and support in these communities, Jessica realized the importance of having a network and resources for new mothers. Her experiences inspired her to become a Babywearing Consultant and Postpartum Doula, roles that allowed her to support other mothers facing similar challenges.

In 2018, Jessica decided to take her passion for supporting mothers a step further by opening Close to the Heart Baby Maternity, a retail store dedicated to their needs. She noticed a significant gap in the market for a store that focused on providing comfortable, stylish clothing and essential support items for women during pregnancy and postpartum. She started in a 400 sq ft location in Cedarburg but driven by her desire to create a supportive space for mothers she soon realized the need for a larger space to expand her offerings. In October 2019, she moved the store to Thiensville, WI, allowing her to offer a wider range of maternity and nursing clothing, products, bras, even classes. Jessica is proud to announce the recently rebranded business to Mama Fox Maternity: A Bump to Baby Boutique, continuing her mission to empower women with the support and resources they need throughout their motherhood journey.
