Sleep in Comfort: Bras for Maternity and Breastfeeding

Sleep in Comfort: Bras for Maternity and Breastfeeding

One of the things that I wasn't prepared for after birth was sleep. I was prepared that I wouldn't have much sleep. I wasn't prepared for waking up in a puddle of breastmilk. I didn't expect to have compressed my breasts by moving during sleep and therefore leaking breastmilk out. It was just one of the many awkward things my body did after giving birth.

I started wearing bras (mostly sports bras) and lightweight camisoles to bed to keep my pads in at night. Now I've found a lighter, more comfortable solution for everyone else: sleep bras!  Sleep bras are excellent for keeping your nursing pads in at night. I always suggest first-time moms use pads at night for a while as you do not know whether or not you will leak. Another great thing is that sleep bras are easy to breastfeed in for those late-night feedings. Sleep bras are also excellent for everyday wear if you love bras with no padding.

We carry three different sleep bras:

Bravado Ballet Nursing Bra - This sleep bra is petal-soft and has a thin piece of elastic on the cup to help keep your pads in place even as you move during your sleep. This bra is also lovely for daytime use if you like lightweight bras.

Nooni's Leak-Resistant Nursing Sleep Bra - This is an excellent option if you want your pads built-in. This is great because your pads won't move around at night or accidentally fall out. So if you move a lot during sleep, this is a great bra for you.

Rumina Essential Relaxed Pump and Nurse Bra - For those Momma's who need to pump at night, the relaxed pump and nurse bra is going to be your best bet. This will allow you to pump hands free during the night or day!

Sleep bras will allow you to sleep with a bit less worry and not wake up in a puddle. We always suggest buying at least three bras (wash, wear, spare), and having one of those being a sleep bra is a great start. Many women end up loving their sleep bra and buying extras after the birth of their baby. So as you are preparing for your baby's birth, add a sleep bra or two on your to-buy list.
