I turned the big 4-0 on May 27, 2020. What a year to turn forty in. I had met Alicia (Buxom Boudoir) at an event we did earlier in the year and thought how great would it be to do a session. Let's be honest, after having a child and some funkiness with my hormones, I'm not feeling comfortable in my own body anymore. I don't feel particularly attractive or sexy. Don't get me wrong, I've accomplished A LOT with this body (two ultra marathons, over 10 GORUCK events, numerous other running events and mud runs) and most days I feel pretty strong. I'm a rather energetic person and my body will keep me going all day and night. It's an amazing body.
However, I have issues in the way that I view my own body. It's not skinny enough. I am lumpy in places. I don't think I should expose my skin as it's super pale. Just my own issues. I highly doubt that I am alone in how I feel. I'm sure many of you feel the same way.
So that's why I decided to book a boudoir session. Everyone will ask "O did you book it for your husband." Hell no. I booked it for me. I booked it because I needed a new appreciation of my body. Buxom Boudoir sees women in a different way and that's such a blessing. As the owner of this body, I tend to be very critical of it. Buxom Boudoir showed me that I have a lot of assets.
So what did I walk away with from the session? A lot of super hot me photos. But seriously, it was an awesome reminder that I don't need to be a size 0 to be sexy or beautiful. Would I recommend doing this if you aren't feeling particularly lovely at all. It's fun to get dolled up. It's fun to pick out something sexy and remember that you are more than just a mother.
